It’s finally here! The US Mint has released the extremely low mintage Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle on November 14th, 2019. This is just the second Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle ever minted! The previous eagle was from the West Point mint; the 2019-W Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle included in the Pride of two nations set. While the Pride of 2 Nations Silver Eagle was enormously popular, this coin, upon release, crashed the U.S. Mint’s website and sold out in minutes! Additionally, the West Point Silver Eagle’s mintage was 110,000, this latest Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle from San Francisco is just 30,000 making it the lowest mintage Silver Eagle coin ever!

Enhanced Reverse Proof finish

A Proof finish is much more detailed compared to an Uncirculated coin. With frosted devices and mirrored fields, it highlights the design due to the stark contrast of the two finishes. A Reverse Proof is where there are frosted fields and mirrored devices. The enhanced reverse proof coin has the same frosted background as a reverse proof, but what differentiates it is the multiple polished and frosted finishes applied to different design elements. The selective polishing and frosting enhance the visual impact of the design to a great extent.

The 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle - Design

The obverse features the famous Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The reverse features a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left. In its beak it carries a banner showing “E Pluribus Unum.” An inverted triangle of thirteen stars represents the original 13 colonies from which the United States of America was born.

Each coin bears the “S” mint mark reflecting its striking at the San Francisco Mint.
