2023 Jovita Idar Quarter PDS 3-Coin Set – PCGS MS66 First Day of Issue – Stephanie Sabin Signature Labels
Celebrate an extraordinary piece of American history with this 2023 Jovita Idar Quarter 3-Coin Set, featuring coins from the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints. Each quarter has been professionally graded MS66 by PCGS and carries the special First Day of Issue designation, accompanied by an exclusive American Flag label featuring the signature of PCGS President Stephanie Sabin.
Jovita Idar (1885–1946) was a groundbreaking Mexican-American journalist, teacher, and civil rights advocate who dedicated her life to advancing education, equality, and women's rights. Born in Laredo, Texas, she used the power of journalism to challenge discrimination and became the first president of La Liga Femenil Mexicanista, an organization committed to improving educational opportunities for Mexican-American children.
The coin's remarkable reverse design, created by U.S. Mint Medallic Artist John P. McGraw, depicts Idar with her hands clasped. Rather than traditional clothing details, her blouse is composed of inscriptions highlighting her accomplishments, professions, and the newspapers for which she wrote. This innovative design was recognized as Best Circulating Coin at the 2025 Mint Directors Conference.
Adding to this collection's appeal is the distinctive signature label honoring Stephanie Sabin, who was appointed President of Professional Coin Grading Service in 2021. Having joined PCGS in 2006, Sabin helped lead the company's international expansion before rising to its highest leadership position.
Featuring all three mintmarks, desirable First Day of Issue designations, and PCGS MS66 certification, this impressive set brings together American history, distinctive coin artistry, and a special connection to one of the industry's leading grading authorities.
