The United States Mint’s annual Congratulations Set has long provided collectors with a special presentation version of the Proof American Silver Eagle, but for America’s historic 250th anniversary year, the Mint created an issue that stands apart from virtually every other 2026 Silver Eagle.

Inside the 2026 United States Mint Congratulations Set is a genuine 2026-P American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin, struck at the Philadelphia Mint and bearing the coveted “P” mint mark. The U.S. Mint established a maximum mintage of just 60,000 coins for this release.

That Philadelphia origin gives this Silver Eagle considerable historical significance. While special Philadelphia Proof Silver Eagles have appeared more recently—including the 2025 Marine Corps privy issue—the 2026 Congratulations Set contains the first standard, non-privy Philadelphia Proof Silver Eagle since 2000.

A Completely Different 2026 Proof Silver Eagle

Collectors will immediately notice another important distinction.

The regular 2026-W Proof Silver Eagle was created specifically for America’s Semiquincentennial and features the special “1776 ~ 2026” dual date and Liberty Bell “250” privy mark. The Philadelphia Congratulations Set coin does not.

Instead, this scarce Philadelphia issue carries the classic single “2026” date, no privy mark and the “P” mint mark on its reverse. The U.S. Mint itself identifies this coin as the exception among the special 2026 collector Silver Eagles.

That makes the two 2026 Proof Silver Eagles substantially different collectibles—not simply the same coin struck at different facilities.

The mintage difference is equally striking: the 2026-P Congratulations Set coin is limited to 60,000, compared with a maximum mintage of 500,000 for the 2026-W anniversary Proof Silver Eagle.
